Website accessibility reviews and fixes

A web that welcomes everyone.

I’m Paddy, an independent web consultant. I find and fix website accessibility barriers that make it harder for people to browse, enquire or buy.

Discuss your website

Share your website and the page or journey you’d like reviewed. We’ll agree where to start before work begins.

  • Real people, not just a checklist
  • Hands-on code fixes
  • Clear advice. No jargon.

A FIRST LOOK, NOT A BLACK BOX

Know what’s
getting in the way.

Your first report makes the barriers easier to understand: what I found, who it affects, and how urgently it needs attention.

  • Prioritised findings

High, medium and low severity—not an opaque score.

  • Plain-English impact

Understand barriers to navigation, forms, enquiries and purchases.

  • A focused starting point

Use the findings to start a conversation about fixes.

ANONYMISED SAMPLE

ONLINE SHOP / SAMPLED PAGES

Accessibility findings

HIGH

Keyboard focus stays behind the open basket

After an item is added, Tab moves through the obscured page instead of into the basket controls. Escape closes the panel.

MEDIUM

Some shopping controls have no usable name

Screen-reader shoppers may not know which controls open the mobile menu or wishlist, submit a search, change quantity or move to more products.

MEDIUM

Some labels and buttons have weak colour contrast

Sold-out labels, basket recommendation buttons and some support or newsletter text can be difficult to read for shoppers with low vision.

Three of five anonymised findings. Based on sampled public pages; supporting technical evidence is retained separately.

HOW THE WORK HAPPENS

Review.
Fix. Retest.

Share your website and the page or journey to prioritise. We’ll agree what will be reviewed, who will make the fixes and what will be handed over before work begins.

Discuss your website
  • Review

Check the agreed pages or journey for keyboard access, screen reader use, forms and contrast. Document issues and priorities.

  • Fix

Turn findings into actionable fixes. Implement agreed changes or provide guidance for your team, with ownership set in the scope.

  • Retest

Recheck the agreed changes with keyboard and assistive technology. Record what is resolved, what remains and the next steps.

A defined scope. A useful handover.

Prioritised findings, agreed fix ownership and a retest record for the changes in scope.

What happens after the finding?

The basket issue from the sample report shows how a finding can become a concrete change and a checkable outcome.

Focus stays behind the basket.

After an item is added, Tab moves through the obscured page instead of into the basket controls. Escape closes the panel.

Manage focus at the transition.

Move focus to a suitable basket control on opening. If the basket is modal, keep Tab within it while open. Restore focus to the trigger when it closes.

Repeat the shopping journey.

Add an item using only the keyboard. Check focus on open, Tab and Shift+Tab, Escape, and focus return on close. Check the controls with a screen reader.

Based on the basket-focus issue documented in the anonymised sample report.

Start with a priority page.
